LinkedIn is cracking down on attention bait videos
LinkedIn has been busy of late with its war on AI slop and more and is now also targeting what it calls “attention-bait videos”. The content designed to keep people watching without offering much use or value to the viewer.
Think endless footage of construction accidents paired with vague safety lessons, or manufacturing videos accompanied by generic business clichés.
According to LinkedIn themselves, these videos are essentially visual versions of AI slop.
Many of these originated on platforms like Instagram, where they performed well, before making their way onto LinkedIn by people that crave “engagement”, but LinkedIn has had enough.
LinkedIn won’t remove content simply because it believes it’s low quality. Instead, the platform plans to limit its reach, often restricting visibility beyond a user’s immediate network using the algorithm and more.
This won’t be a permanent fix however, just a step on the journey to fight against sloppy content. As fast as LinkedIn evolves someone will try to counter it – hopefully not in a short AI video on LinkedIn about how to counter it on LinkedIn in ten easy steps!
