Brand new company pages on LinkedIn
Now that the noise has stopped on the new companies page (and started on the new personal profile!) I thought I would take the time to write about what has changed for your company profile experience on LinkedIn.
If you haven’t seen one you can find or follow ours here http://www.linkedin.com/company/the-network-coach-limited.
I have to say I really like the new look, much more modern, cleaner and easier to see the stream (or lack of!) updates, the range of products and services. Although you do have to be more aware of the “about us” section being less prominent if you do many company updates.
The company updates are now front and centre, enabling you to quickly share a message with your followers, to share comments on companies you view, like, or share with your professional network.
The other good news with this update is that company pages are now on iPhone, Android and iPad apps, so you can get your company brand or view company pages, wherever you are.
We all know a picture is worth a thousand words, so LinkedIn have made it possible to add an image that best represents your company and brand directly on the company home page. Just like the photo on your profile, this image helps companies establish their identity on LinkedIn and start to personify their company for viewers of their profile.
All of this is good news which makes it easier than ever to make the most of company pages.
The bad news is that the rich source of company insights has been curtailed, no longer can you see where all the staff reside at a glance, you get less immediate visibility of the competitor information and less sample of the common skills within the business.
You also now have less granularity on the updates you can receive on companies you find interesting, you can no longer filter through for the “stuff” you want, it is imply on or off, which is a real shame.
They have already announced there are more changes coming to company profiles later in the year so I guess we will have to just watch this space for the next raft of updates.
What do you think of the new company pages?
